Schubert Symphony No.8 Great with CD
Much has been puzzled about the time of origin of the Great Symphony in C major by Franz Schubert (1797 - 1828). He probably began composing in 1825 and dedicated the symphony to the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna in 1826, which was unable to perform it due to its level of difficulty. It was not until 1828 that Schubert put it into print after a short revision. The characteristic feature of this symphony is its beginning: the first eight bars of the memorable melody are performed only by two horns - a sound image that was atypical for the beginning of a symphony until then. Another characteristic is the later so called total implementation, i.e. the thematic-motivic work takes place not only in the implementation sentence, but from the beginning. This results in a motivic-logical connection across all molded parts.
