Schubert’s “Trockne Blumen” rediscovered: this sensitive arrangement by star violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann transports Schubert’s own variations on his song from “Die schöne Müllerin” – for flute and piano in the original – into an expressive version for violin and piano. Continually oscillating between resigned lamentation and flickering hope, a compelling chamber music scene comes to life here. With the solo part perfectly tailored to the capabilities of the violin, the work fits seamlessly into the demanding literature for violin – a welcome addition for teaching, examinations or concerts.
The edition, which Zimmermann meticulously supplied with fingerings and bowings, is ideal for all advanced violinists who also wish to explore Schubert’s wealth of songs on their instrument.
