This solo from the Opus 9 collection is in Ab Major and utilizes the full range of the bassoon, up to high Bb. It is a sweet and charming piece yet presents unique challenges for performers at all levels. This is not to be confused with the Arioso (op. 9, #1) and indeed one may discover discrepancies in the numbering of these pieces by various editors and different editions.
